New Peugeot 3008 GT Line 2019 Drive Test Review.

It was less than a month ago when Peugeot introduced the second-gen 3008 compact crossover and now the French are ready to expand the family with a somewhat hot diesel-powered model. The reveal doesn’t actually come as a big surprise taking into account the GT version was spotted on the factory floor of the PSA Sochaux plant in France a month ago.

Its heart and soul is a turbodiesel 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine producing 180 horsepower (132 kilowatts) delivered to the road through a six-speed automatic transmission. There’s more to this GT version than its punchy diesel engine, as the crossover also gets a slightly more aggressive body matched with chunky 19-inch wheels that you will only find on the GT model.

Peugeot will sell the crossover with standard LED headlights and sequential indicators, along with a sportier front grille and a chequered chrome radiator grille. To spice things up, there’s an exclusive color, as well as a two-tone roof and a bi-color body appearance. Tweaks continue on the inside where there’s double topstitching and a tri-material TEP/ Alcantara trim which can be swapped for a fancier Nappa Mistral leather. The 3008 GT also benefits from a copper color for the digital display that you will not find on the lesser models of the range.

If you would rather have most of the car’s design, but without the punchy diesel engine, Peugeot will sell the new 3008 with a “GT Line” trim. It can be had with all of the crossover’s engines, except for the 1.6L BlueHDi 100 S&S and the GT’s 2.0L BlueHDi 180 S&S.

By far the best thing about the interior is the implementation of Peugeot’s second take on the i-Cockpit. It boasts a 12.3-inch entirely digital and customizable instrument cluster mounted up high with five user-selectable view modes controlled from a knob mounted on the steering wheel. It’s more visible than the previous one since the steering wheel now sits a little bit lower and it has an almost flat upper area. The infotainment system makes use of a tablet-styled eight-inch capacitive touchscreen display which Peugeot says is more responsive than before.

For the first time ever on a production car, the French acoustics gurus at Focal will install a factory-fitted sound system with 10 speakers, subwoofer, and a 12-channel amplifier. The high-end audio system has a total power of 515 watts and aims to deliver crystal clear sound.

As far as power is concerned, the 2017 Peugeot 3008 will be offered with a wide selection of gasoline and diesel three- and four-cylinder engines, all turbocharged:
1.2L PureTech 130 S&S 6SMT (6-speed manual transmission) in standard and very-low consumption versions;
1.2L PureTech 130 S&S 6-speed auto;
1.6L THP 165 S&S 6-speed auto;
1.6L BlueHDi 100 S&S BVM5;
1.6L BlueHDi 120 S&S 6SMT (6-speed manual transmission) in standard and very-low consumption versions;
1.6L BlueHDi 120 S&S 6-speed auto;
2.0L BlueHDi 150 S&S 6SMT (6-speed manual transmission);
2.0L BlueHDi 180 S&S 6-speed auto.
